Jan 2009 Calendar

I'm going to try this for a resolution - create a kit a month and give you a calendar to match. Here is the first one using my new kit "A Bit Flaky" available in my K*Joi store. The calendar is letter-sized and I am printing it out and hanging it on a clipboard in a busy place in the house. If someone will remind me of the common European paper size, I will also create one Monday - Sunday. Download

Flaky!

My new kit currently has the name "A Bit Flaky" and will be available sometime on Saturday from my K*Joi store. Join me in the K*Joi chat on Saturday morning - I will start up sometime past 9:30 US Central and hang until I get called away or everyone else does ;) We will be talking about last minute Christmas gift ideas.
Here is a little preview of "A Bit Flaky," my new winter kit. I created some gift tags for you. These can be printed on 8.5x11 paper then cut and signed.

Thanksgiving Weekend

I wish I was just sitting and relaxing, but there is fence to be built so we don't have to buy so much hay this winter or at least for the fall. The parents are visiting here and we had a reasonable meal - Mom is getting better. There are still a bit of leftovers.

I have also put all my products at 50% (not including collaboratives). Check out my K*Joi store. Of course, what I really have in the store right now is my Birthday Star kit, so I made another little freebie to celebrate. Download here. This mini-kit does not duplicate any of the previous elements, pages or kits. Scroll down for previous add-on. This BB QP does have elements from other kits on the page.

I just finished up my contribution to the K*Joi Holidays at my Home kit. It will be on sale Dec 1.
I also joined both the Holly Jolly Blog Train and Christmas Around the World. So I will be a busy designer in the next few weeks.
Wishing all the Americans - Happy Thanksgiving!

Come join me at my Cartoon Chat, Saturday morning 10 am (US Central Time) at K*Joi.
An Add-On to my Birthday Star kit, this set is part of my Mostly Done series (Tell me what you think). It contains a 4x6 quickpage and parts to create your own matching page. No parts have been duplicated between this kit and original Birthday Star (12x12) and the Birthday Star Mostly Done (4x6).
Download this kit from 4shared.

Birthday Star - Mostly Done

Finished the Add-On to the Birthday Star kit - it is now available at K*Joi. I tried the concept that you may want to customize some. I have included 3 quickpages and materials to build matching pages. Some of the elements are brand new. Some of the elements come from the original Birthday Star kit. Both kits are 50% for the DSD weekend.

Digital Scrapbooking Day!

Welcome!
Went for a short walk this morning. The fog is so heavy, I heard the dew dripping from the trees.
I have a busy day scheduled! Lots of blog hops and chats. Hope to see ya'll at some of them. The first on my schedule is my weekly cartoon chat at K*Joi at 10 am (US Central).
I also plan to finish up a Mostly Done Brag Book using my Birthday Star kit, which is 50% off for the weekend. If I can carve out some more time, I will work on my CSI kit, the next in line.
See ya'll around! Have a great day and stop back by for the new Brag Book kit.

This set is available free for this weekend only. 4shared

New Animals

Well, we did it again! About a month ago, we got a llama and then last Saturday in a whirlwind tour around Kansas City we picked up a goat, 3 guinea, 2 peafowl and a mimosa tree. What a menagree!

Here is CoCo. She came with the name Maggie, but be already have a pain named Maggie, so miss oreo is named after Chocolate. She has skin injures on her face and legs and her fur is very matted. No hope for the fur until spring. She will come for food, but still won't let us touch her.

Read more about our animals on our Measure of Their Creation Blog.

Birthday Star - Date Wheel

datewheelI was so excited when I received my invitation to join the designers at K*Joi Studios. Then I started sorting through my partial kits and found nothing ready to post. I started to rework my entry into Faith Sisters and the kit has taken on a life of its own - gotta find a stopping place soon and put it into my store. This morning I got the date wheel finished and wanted to share, actually wanted to find someone to test it out and give feedback. *Freebie no longer available - check out my K*Joi store for full kit *
Look for the full kit ad in a few days. To use the date wheel, open the files in order, part 1 on the bottom, then rotate to the desired position. The papers may or may not make it into the full kit.

SAS Cast Party

Whew! The Stone Accent Studio's Next SASsy Lady contest was a whirlwind of creating kits and I actually had a blast. A big Thank You to everyone that made comments on my blog and 4shared account!
As a thank you, I have created 2 brag book sized pages from each kit I made for the contest. I can just see your favorite 4 Alarm Chili recipe in the Police one on the right or your own little devil in the one on the left. How about a picture of your childhood home in the top Heritage page with a family picture of your grandparents in the other. Both of the Butterfly Garden pages are perfect for a cover page, I designed the green one for recipes and the purple for photos of flowers or your kiddies in the flowers. 4shared
Can't wait to see what you do with these pages. Email me at katlen124(at)gmail(dot)com.

See the rest of the Cast Party ~ a special thanks to Nani for organizing this party!

I can tell you there are many excellent kits - coordinated to 3 color schemes. I have made an add-on for week 2 with 3 papers, a frame, some word art and clips. Download from 4shared.
Stay tuned for the blog hop with more freebies from the participants.

Sorry so little freebies with this round at SAS. It has been a busy week in my non-scrapping world. Still looking for something to pay the bills. I have had this quick page in mind, so I put it together to send along. download
If you haven't voted yet, there is still time, at least until Thurs evening, maybe longer because there were some difficulties before and during this time. (must be logged in)

Wordle Fun

I spent too much time at Wordle today, but you get a free paper for it. I also made a paper from an old photograph of some unknown ancestor family. I played a lot with some buttons because I plan on making some button clusters, but here is one set using the color scheme provided in the SAS contest. I also put in a slide frame and a filmstrip. Again - don't know what I am going to use in the final kit. I do need to make some more papers. Download this part at 4shared.
Tomorrow come back for the full kit.

Name My Kit

Been tossing around ideas for the name of my kit. My sister is leaning toward something with shoebox in it. I'm singing "misty, water-colored memories ... of the way we were. Please make a suggestion as you are downloading the part of the kit.
As with the last post, these are just parts I am playing with. They may or may not make the final cut when I assemble the kit on Monday for posting at Stone Accent Studios. This part contains a photo album cover, 3 raffia wraps, and 3 flowers. The final paper is a pile of photographs from an album my father inherited, mostly cousins.

Download at 4 shared. - don't forget to leave a suggestion.

SAS week 3 - Heritage

By a lot of bad luck for other people, I managed to stay in the SAS Designer contest. This week's topic, however, I feel that I can really run with. I have created a few pages and elements already. These may or may not make the final cut into the full kit. Leave a comment and tell me.
The street scene is where my dad grew up and the frame is from an old photo album.

Butterfly Garden - BB QP

Not a lot of time today, but I did promise a freebie a day until I am pushed of of designer island at SAS. I need some more journaling space, so I created some simple labels. So in this installment you get: 2 blue Brag Book Quick Pages and 4 labels in this week's colors.

So if I am going to stay on the island I need a few more votes at SAS {need to be registered to vote or download my original kit} preview 1 & preview 2

Today's at 4shared!

Butterfly Garden - Another Add-On

I promised a freebie a day, so here are the gingham's I thought of sitting quietly in church. (Not where my mind should have been, I know). The bows just wouldn't fit into the limitations of the kit.
One of the other contestants made brag book quick pages - mulling that in my mind for tomorrow...hmm.
In the meantime - go vote for me at SAS {need to be registered to vote or download my original kit} preview 1 & preview 2

Butterfly Garden - First Freebie

When I was designing the Butterfly Garden kit, I thought they said recolors didn't count, so I was going hog wide. Here is one of the patterns I came up with. I put it on the paper, clip and prongs. I thought putting them on the ribbons was overkill. I created the ribbons to offset the butterfly overload.

Be sure to head over to my SAS Gallery and download the big kit and vote for me - must be registered.

SAS week 2

In week two, the tormentors gave us a color scheme, but let us free on the topic. We had to make to previews but I have jammed it all into here. The kit has 32 pieces in all: 12 papers, 1 quick page, 9 flowers, 4 journaling notes, 1 shaker, 1 frame, 2 ribbons, 1 bow and a clip.

Check out the less jammed previews at SAS:
preview 1 & preview 2

Layout with Police Heros

I was encouraged to create a layout using my kit and now I know why. While making the layout, I was thinking, "Gee, I could use a ..."

So the list includes: a badge frame, Crime Scene ribbon, tag set (who, what, when, where), magnifying glass, microscope, "who done it" word art ... taking suggestions.

In case you missed it, the second extra set is at 4shared and the whole kit is available through my gallery at Stone Accent Studios.

Police Kit

Well, here it is! I kept dreaming up more elements. I wish I had more time. When I make the kit to sell, there will be more real elements and more papers - had a tough time with papers for this.

The voting hasn't started yet, but you can see the entries at SAS.

Police Sampler

I have joined yet another contest: this time at Stone Accent Studios.

For the upcoming kit, I had to create my own notepad element, so I am giving it away early with a few other things I needed to test. The notepad I photographed myself and cut down all the fluff around it.I thought it could be used as a journaling space. Looking forward to your feedback.

Come back for the full kit in a few days.

500 Downloads

I am so excited. By putting my Birthday kit on the freebie lists (Digifree and DigiScrapDepot), my kit was downloaded over 500 times. My CUTE template has been downloaded over 60 times.

Thanks to all who left comments!

I do plan on making a few more of the printables. I need 4 letter words. I already have planned BFF!, LOVE, BABY. Any other suggestions?

Mostly Done

My next project - in between all the contests - is to create a brag book sized series called Mostly Done. I personally do not like QuickPages or Ploppers, where all you do is put the picture behind an already finished page and maybe add a title and journaling. Mostly Done will provide a brag book page that is almost finished along with a few elements that you can place wherever. This idea will allow you to complete multiple pages from the same mini-kit that look like an album, yet not identical.

My first set will be a school years album. I welcome any other ideas ... birthday ...

KJoi Designer Contest

I have entered yet another designer contest. Found out today, no one is getting kicked out, so I have to go through all 4 rounds. My first project ended up in an entirely different direction than my first tries, so I see another mini-kit sometime soon with the first group of stuff.

New Animals

We have a very small farm. This past week, we bought 2 new goats to bring to a total of 4. Also our first chickens and Guinea since moving to Missouri. The birds have not been doing well in the heat and the goats are lonely for their larger herd, but the are settling in. The layout is at Digitals for the Calendar Challenge.

First kit for sale

My first full kit is available for sale at Digital Craft Cottage. (store)
I love the school bus yellow along with the subdued red and green. I'm already thinking of add on pieces and more as I create LOs using this versatile kit.

First Template!!!

I have made my first template.

I have recently been fascinated by word books and thought, maybe I can make one. AND I DID! I have done my testing this morning, and a little revising. It is ready to be testing by someone else. If you use this to create an album, please tell me about it, leave a link to the photo, at least tell me if it works.

Just a little memory sharing

A little fun passed on from DeDe Smith:

Here are the directions:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together.
It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember
! And to my ONLINE SCRAPBOOKING FRIENDS - we've had lots of fun together in our crops and such...so I say that counts too!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you.

3. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments. HAVE FUN!

Been a few months, need to update!
Personal:
Not only off from teaching for the summer, but job hunting. Living with my sister and doing things neither of us had time for like, cleaning out the garage, listing stuff on our Half store, etc.
Scrapping:
Got on the Scrap Professor CT team last week. I'm so excited.
Also found Digital Craft Cottage. Looks like a fun place. The LO is Christmas tags from DCC Down Home Christmas team kit for the Christmas Tag Exchange. Check out the other entries and try it yourself.

Cat book

The Christmas rush is over and I am settling back into the school routine (blah).
I have had some chances to get back to scrapping. A while ago I started a cat book that will eventually contain pictures of the cats my sister and I have shared quarters with for the last 15 years.
Here are Faith and Hope, 2 little strays the girl brought home from church one Wednesday night many years ago. Hope died several years ago, but the beautiful Faith is as shy as ever.
